Mission Statement
Bereavement can be a deeply painful and distressing part of life. When it is encountered, it is a bewildering and often a very lonely and frightening experience.
Although life will never be the same again, grief can be survived and a sense of hope restored.
Our purpose, as the James Reid After Care Coordinators, is to help individuals, families and the community to understand and work through grief's journey.
Family After Care
After the funeral, we provide one year follow up. This includes an initial contact by phone call or letter. Ongoing support is then provided as desired.
Individual and Family Support
The After Care Coordinators are available to provide short term grief support. We accept referrals from health and social agencies, nurses, physicians, clergy and the community.
Public Education Nights
You are welcome to join us for a presentation and reflection on a grief related topic. We meet in the James Reid Funeral Home Reception Centre, from 7-9 p.m., on the first Monday of each month. Refreshments are provided.
AFTER CARE CHRISTMAS DEDICATION SERVICE
Every December, the staff of the James Reid Funeral Home has a Dedication service for all the families they have served in the previous year(s). This service is to honour and recognize the loss of your loved one, and provide families with some positive information to help cope during the difficult festive holiday season.
