MILLAN, Eunice Ada, A.R.C.T. (Nee Birchall)
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Eunice Ada Millan, nee Birchall, at the Kingston General Hospital on Friday, June 4, 2010. She was predeceased by her late husband, Denis J. Millan, and her parents Harry Birchall and May Lister. She is survived by her beloved son, Mark Sean Millan and his wife Deborah Millan of Kingston, and her beloved daughter Michelle Suzanne Whyard and her husband Steven Whyard of Winnipeg. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Katie Millan and Eric Millan of Kingston, and Alexandra Whyard of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her only brother Edward Birchall ( predeceased by sister in law Audrey Birchall) and her nephew David Birchall and his wife Josie Birchall, all of Kingston.
She will also be remembered by brothers and sisters in law John and Bella Millan, Sister Norma Millan, Jimmy Millan ( Zeta) , Anne and Henry Vermette, Leo and Kathy Millan, Jerry Millan (Norma), Mary and Tom Smallegange and Paul Millan (Jennifer) all of Kingston and Michael and Evy Millan of Peterborough. She is also predeceased by her sister in law Frances Cook and her father and mother in law Norman Millan and Marie Daugherty. She will be remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins, She is also survived by her dear friends Jean Somerville of Kingston and Joy Christian of Nanaimo, British Columbia.
She graduated with Teacher's and Solo Performer's diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and was a fifty year member as a Registered Music Teacher. She was one of the first teachers asked to be a Studio Instructor in Piano and Theory for the Bachelor of Music Degree at Queen's University, Kingston.
She summered at Cape Cod, Mass., and enjoyed yearly visits to Stowe, Vermont. She travelled widely and was very interested in world affairs. She was a long time member of St. George's Cathedral. Resting at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard. Friends will be received on Monday, June 7, from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service in the chapel on Tuesday, June 8, at 11:00, with Reverend Kris Michaelson officiating. Interment Cataraqui Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Mrs. Millan's memory.
