PATTERSON, Gerald Douglas "Jerry"

Posted: June 17, 2010

- Suddenly, as the result of a tragic accident, on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in his 68th year. Cherished husband and best friend of Sue for 46 years. Proud and loving father of Mark and his wife Janet and Scott and his wife Leslie, all of Kingston. Devoted and doting "Poppy" to Hailey and Jacob. Dear brother of Joan Fairbanks and her husband Gerald and remembered with much love by his nephew Terry White and his wife Tracey and their sons Ryan and David, also all of Kingston. Poppy will also be sorely missed by his canine companions Molly, Belle and the late Pepper, who will miss the many walks and treats. Jerry touched many, many lives during his short life. His love of life, his innate ability to make you laugh to tears of joy will be missed forever and remembered with every laugh and smile. Jerry loved the outdoors, being an avid fisherman and hunter and left this world doing what he loved the most; fishing on Buck Lake while thinking of his family. Jerry also gave much of his time to others and was involved in minor hockey for many years. In keeping with Jerry's wishes, cremation will be immediate. Friends may call at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Monday, June 21, 2010 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. A private family interment service will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy and in recognition of Jerry's love of animals and the outdoors, memorial donations made to the Kingston Humane Society or to Ducks Unlimited would be appreciated by the family. "LOVE YOU GUYS!"

Hi Sue, Mark, Scott and famlies...I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Val and Bruce told me about it. When I first moved to Kingston on Knightsbridge Road right after my own mother died when I was ten, I remember the kindness of the Patterson's very well. Your kindness at a time in my life when I really needed it made a lasting impression. I send you all my deepest sympathies and will keep Jerry and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Thinking of you all.... Lesley Guigue (nee Tubbs)

Dear Sue, Mark, Scotty and your famillies. I was so shocked to see the obituary for Mr. Patterson in the newspaper. My thoughts are with you all. I only met him a few times, but Gerry struck me as such a kind, funny and welcoming person. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I cannot begin to imagine how you feel. I hope the many wishes of friends and good memories shared will help everyone feel some comfort. Sincerely, Jane Davies.
