To the Soberman Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. I was a student of Dan's in the late 80's and enjoyed his business law classes. I also owe him a debt of gratitude. As a foreign trained lawyer he helped me gain admission to Queen's Law School at a time when the requalification rules for foreign lawyers were very restrictive.
He was a good man and a good teacher.
Sincerely,
Tim Armstrong

Please accept my sincere condolences on the death of dear Professor Soberman. My fondest memory of Professor Soberman was during preparaton for our moot in 3rd year. Like all young law students, we were grossly overprepared, passionate and fervent in our argument. In presenting Professor Soberman with our 30 "relevant" cases, he patiently listened, considered and then with a straight face (and a little grin), he gently suggested that perhaps two cases would do. He was right and he still is. He taught us to get to the point. Thank you Professor Soberman. Sincerely, Linda Willcox Law "83

Professor Soberman was the faculty leader of my first year law section when I attended Queen's. He also taught my first year contracts class. A very good teacher and a kind and caring human being. I respected Professor Soberman and I know he will be missed very much.

I was saddened to read that Dan had passed. I was fortunate to attend Queen's Law-1971-and to have had the pleasure and good fortune to study under his guidance. He always made himself available to students in the Faculty and was known to join us for a pint or two on occasion. He was particularly kind and helpful to me . My sincere condolences to all members of his family.Rod Follwell

Dear Soberman family: Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Dan Soberman. He was a prolific and dedicated figure both before and after my time at Queen's. Having just lost my father, my thoughts go out to my engineering classmate Gail and my Queen's Law colleague Julia. Dan was a kind, decent and amazingly accomplished man. While we cannot be with the family in Kingston tomorrow, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Andy Shaughessy Law '91.

I came to know Dan when he and Alex Corry, re-founded the Faculty of Law. The offices were in the basement of Morris Hall when I was its student chair. Thus began a long relationship that was marked by a deep concern for students, Queen's and the well-being of our society. Dan was a fine man with a well-developed mind and heart. One cannot ask for more. Pat, I will hold him and you all in my heart and prayers. Ruben (Butch) Nelson, Arts '61.

I just today learned of Dan's passing. Over my thirty-four years on Queen's faculty I had the pleasure on many occasions of working with Dan. Dan was always both a devoted team player as well as the strongest, most effective, and most compassionate leader I encountered at Queen's. In addition to my professional interactions with Dan, I shall always be grateful to him for the thoughtful, kind, and caring support he so generously provided to me at a very difficult point in my life. Undoubtedly, Dan's legacy as a most outstanding lawyer, and academic, and human being will live on for a very long time. Pat, my thoughts are with you and your family in this difficult time. My condolences to the family. Professor Soberman was a kind and gentle man as well as a scholar with a gift for teaching and mentoring, generous with his time, and he always had a kind word for those in need of comfort. His wit and sense of humour made him great fun at our student pot-luck parties. In our first year Contract Law lecture he repeated the same message daily like a mantra: regardless the area of law we might choose to practice, contract law would always be relevant and interesting and we would later come to appreciate this more. Throughout the years, I thought of those lectures and how right he was.
