The benefits of play include:

2) Increased imagination and creativity
3) Increased discovery and reasoning
4) Problem solving
5) Enhanced manipulative skills
6) Expanded social awareness
Children require fun and challenging play environments to learn and help develop their muscle groups and motor skills. There are two kinds of motor skills: large and small motor skills. Large motor skills depend on the development of the major muscle groups such as the legs, back, shoulders and arms. They are used in activities that include crawling, walking, climbing and throwing.
Small motor skills are often referred to as fine motor skills and include small muscle groups such as wrists and hands. They are associated with small optical muscles used to coordinate movement and in the speech apparatus, which are used to articulate words. Small motor skills impact hand eye coordination and help with more difficult tasks like speaking, drawing and holding objects.
The toys and play environments provided by parents play an important role in child development. Research shows that the most creative and confident children are those with parents that take an active role with their children.
At Playtrium we believe in participating play and we encourage parents to jump right in!
1) Watch your children play
2) Determine their skill level
3) Play their favourite games with them and at their level
4) Be creative, its alright for adults to pretend
5) Most importantly, have fun!
As parents, the toys and play environments that we provide play an important role in our children becoming mature and creative adults. At Playtrium we are happy to provide exciting, challenging and fun play environments that help parents to shape their children into positive, confident young adults!
