Weekly Update

May 8th, 2008

  1. Kindergarten Registration

If you have a child who will be four years old by December 31st, 2008 and you live in this area, you may register them for Junior Kindergarten.  Please bring their birth certificate, health card and immunization record.  The office hours are 8:00AM to Noon and 1:00PM to 4:00PM.

  1. Moving

If you are moving this summer and will not be attending Cataraqui Woods Elementary School next year, please notify the Main Office.  This will help in organizing classes for September 2008.

  1.  School Website

Last week, I incorrectly gave you the website for the school.  The correct website is: http://www.webwoods.com/catararqui/.  Both the weekly update and parent council meetings minutes are posted on our website.

  1. Healthy Messages from the Health Unit

Come out this Saturday, May 10th, 2008, to Kingston’s Norman Rogers Airport and Roll on the Runway.  Walk, bike, roller blade, or skateboard on the runways from 10AM to 1PM.  Try out your cycling skills at the bicycle rodeo.  Bring the whole family for a fun and active time!

  1. Party in the Park

We are looking for volunteers to help at Party in the Park.  If you know of any high school students who would like to do community hours, please ask them to contact the Main Office.

We need 3 BBQ’s for the evening. If anyone can help out, please contact the Main Office at 613-634-4995.

Any donations for the raffle table and/or Silent Auction would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Parent Council Meeting

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 14th at 6PM.  All parents/guardians are welcome.

  1. Lockdown Practice

On Monday, May 5th we  had our first practice of a ‘lockdown’. It went very well and we would like to thank students, staff and parents for their support.

  1. Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart

Pledge forms went home on Tuesday for Jump Rope for Heart (K-8) and Hoops for Heart (Gr. 6-8).  Why pledge?  Not only are students supporting Heart & Stroke Research, they also can receive great prizes and

For every dollar pledged, Cataraqui Woods E.S. receives points which we use to purchase much needed gym equipment.  All students will be participating in our Jump Rope for Heart or Hoops for Heart on Friday, May 16th in the afternoon.  Students are to only ask friends and family members for pledges and not to go door-to-door.  If you are able to volunteer to help write tax receipts on that day, please let Mrs. Evans, Ms. Marshall or Ms. Frink know.  Thank you for your continued support for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

  1. Trees

Yesterday, under the supervision of Jeff Scott, an arborist, our students planted 19 trees.  It has certainly made a difference to our yard and it is our hope that the trees will survive the summer months.

  1.  Pizza Days

Our last Pizza day will be May  7th.  Thank you for your support.
